Welcome to my website and I am very excited to introduce myself, my name is Jane and I am a student Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, training at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training centre in Chelmsford, Essex. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern therapeutic approach that blends principles of Solution Brief Therapy (SFBT), neuroscience with the use of clinical hypnosis. Rather than delving into the past or exploring the root causes of problems, SFH is primarily concerned with what you would like to achieve and how you can move toward a more positive future. The focus is always on solutions and progress, rather than problems or pathology. During our sessions, we will usually begin by identifying your goals, what your best hopes are for therapy and what your desired outcomes are. The therapy is very much future-orientated and you are encouraged to think about what's going right and what your life could look like once your issues have been resolved. Hypnosis is also used in conjunction, it is a deep relaxation that brings the conscious and subconscious mind into focus, enabling you to get the very best out of yourself. Hypnosis is actually very ordinary in many ways, and we go in and out of hypnosis naturally many times a day, when we are at the gym of example, doing something we enjoy and even driving a regular route, we do it all the time! Our sessions are usually quite quick, 6-12 sessions but sometimes more, please have a look below to see how I can help you to achieve your goals, feel better and find the motivation and happiness that you truly deserve.

The teenage years can be challenging, with growing pressures from school, social life and the world around them. Many young people experience anxiety, low confidence, sleep problems or fears that can feel overwhelming. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy offers a gentle, future-focused way to help teens feel more in control. Whether it's exam or driving lesson nerves, social worries, phobias, unhealthy habits, or school absenteeism, this approach helps young people develop a calmer mindset and build confidence from within. Rather than digging into the past, we focus on their strengths, goals, and what is going right. Hypnosis is used in a safe, relaxing way to calm the mind, reduce anxiety, and support healthy thought patterns. Teenagers leave sessions feeling more positive, resilient and better equipped to handle life's ups and downs.
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is particularly effective for anxiety, panic attacks, and various mental health challenges because it emphasizes what's working, encourages a forward-thinking mindset, and builds resilience. For those experiencing anxiety and panic attacks, SFH can be especially beneficial. The process begins by helping you to calm the nervous system through guided relaxation techniques, which lowers stress levels and reduces physical symptoms like a racing heart or shortness of breath. During the relaxed, trance-like-state, the subconscious mind becomes more open to positive suggestions. These suggestions are designed to replace fear-driven thoughts with calmer, more confident patterns of thinking. As SFH is collaborative and empowering, many people find it not only effective for managing anxiety and panic attacks but also helpful for boosting general mental health and emotional resilience, please see a copy of my MP3 below to sample this wonderful feeling of deep relaxation to calm your mind.
Lacking confidence or struggling with low self-esteem can quietly hold you back-from relationships, work, goals, or simply feeling good about yourself. Self-limiting beliefs like "I'm not good enough" or "I can't do that" can become deeply ingrained, but they're not permanent. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps you shift those unhelpful thought patterns by focusing on what you can do, not what you can't. We don't dwell on the past-we look forward, helping you build a more positive mindset, reconnect with your strengths, and develop lasting inner confidence. Using a blend of solution-focused talking and guided hypnosis, you'll begin to let go of doubt and rediscover your sense of self-worth. It's about empowering you to move forward, feel capable, and believe in yourself again. You already have the potential - hypnotherapy helps you unlock it.
Fears and phobias can develop quickly, but they can also be gently unlearned. Whether its a fear of flying, needles, dogs, being sick, or something else entirely, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you feel calmer, more in control, and free from the limitations these fears create. This approach doesn't involve reliving past experiences or 'facing your fear' head on. Instead, we focus on building a more positive mindset and helping your brain respond differently-calmly and rationally-to the things that used to trigger fear. Through focused conversation and relaxing hypnosis, we work together to rewire the response, so you can move forward with confidence and ease. Freedom from fear is possible, and it often happens faster than you might expect.
Pain management through Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works by helping individuals shift their focus from the sensation of pain to what's working well in their lives, and by using hypnosis to alter the way pain is perceived by the brain. It's a gentle, client-led approach that doesn't dwell on the problem but instead builds resilience, optimism and a sense of control. During sessions, you will be encouraged to talk about small, positive steps and moments of relief or ease you have noticed, no matter how minor. This helps to train the brain to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. This is particularly powerful because chronic pain often leads to a cycle of fear, stress and tension, which can actually increase the intensity of pain. By breaking that cycle and helping the brain focus on what's going well, SFH can reduce the emotional burden that often amplifies pain. Rather than promising a cure, SFH offers a toolkit for living better with pain, empowering clients to focus on strengths, using the power of the mind and to rediscover a sense of hope and calm.
Solution-focused hypnotherapy approaches stress and sleep by focusing on how the brain processes daily experiences and how positive change can be encouraged through forward-thinking strategies and relaxation techniques. Stress is often described in SFH using the metaphor of a "stress bucket" where each worry, challenge, or unresolved issue adds more "water" to the bucket. If the bucket becomes too full, it can overflow, leading to symptoms such as anxiety, tension, and even physical problems. SFH helps you to become aware of what is filling your stress bucket and encourages you to focus on small, manageable steps to prevent overflow. Instead of analysing problems in depth, the therapy centres on what is already working well and how to build on those strengths. When it comes to sleep, stress plays a significant role. An overloaded mind can keep people awake at night, especially when the primitive or emotional brain is in control. SFH aims to restore a sense of balance by encouraging mental processing similar to what happens during REM sleep. During the hypnosis part of the session, you enter a deeply relaxed state where the subconscious becomes more receptive to positive suggestions. This state not only helps reduce stress but also mimics the brain's natural way of clearing emotional clutter, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. In practice, SFH combines positive conversation, education about how the brain works, and a relaxing trance experience. Over time, this process helps you to sleep better, manage stress more effectively, and feel more in control of your life..
Many issues in society would label as 'bad habits' have such a negative effect on not only the mental and physical health of the sufferer, but also on family, friends etc. Smoking, misuse of alcohol and drugs, money and gambling problems - all of these can be both debilitating for the afflicted person, as well as having a devastating effect on all those around them. Habits are formed and stored in the subconscious mind and left to their own devices, habits will continue and repeat, as is the function of the subconscious part of our minds, breaking cycles can be very tough. To help with this, we focus on the subconscious mind, helping you to overcome fears, and open creative blocks - making a positive difference to the way we react by changing old patterns of behaviour to new more positive ones which enables us to cope so much better with life's challenges. The therapy focuses on your own inner strengths and resources enabling you to look forward to a more positive future where you are more in control of your thoughts, feelings and actions.
Weight management in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is all about helping you to make lasting, positive changes in your thoughts, habits and behaviours related to food and body image. Rather than focusing on diets or restrictions, it encourages a healthy mindset through a combination of goal setting, positive psychology and hypnosis. Sessions usually begin with a conversation that focuses on what's already going well and what you would like to achieve. This solution-focused approach shifts attention away from problems and toward possibilities. You are guided to imagine your desired future-how you would feel, behave and think once you've reached their goals-which helps build motivation and clarity. Hypnosis is used to help the mind become more open to suggestion in a calm and relaxed state. In this state, we would reinforce helpful patterns like mindful eating, reduced cravings, emotional regulation and increased motivation for exercise. The relaxed state also helps reduce stress, which is a common driver of emotional or binge eating. Lower stress levels means lower cortisol, which can support more balanced eating habits and metabolism. Over time, the approach helps to reframe food, exercise and self-image in a way that feels empowering, not restrictive. Clients often report feeling more confident, more in control, and better equipped to maintain a healthy lifestyle, not just for weight management, but for overall well-being.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is used to help athletes unlock their full potential by focusing on strengths, building confidence and mentally rehearsing success. Instead of dwelling on past failures or performance anxiety, we focus on what is already working well and how to build on this for consistent, peak performance. A typical session begins with a conversation about recent successes, even small ones, and how you would like things to be. This helps shift the brain into a solution-focused mindset, where possibilities feel more achievable. Encouragement to visualise the best version of yourself in action-calm, focused and in control. The hypnosis part of the session is designed to reinforce this positive mental state. In a deeply relaxed state, the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to helpful suggestions-like staying calm under pressure, improving focus, or reacting automatically with confidence and skill during competition. Mental rehearsal in this state can be as powerful as physical practice, helping athletes perform at their best when it matters most. SFH is also effective in managing nerves, overcoming mental blocks and recovering from setbacks and injury. It helps reduce cortisol and adrenaline levels that can cause tension or overthinking during performance, replacing you with a calm, clear-headed state that supports flow and precision.
